Perspective Literary Agency

Perspective Literary Agency will be holding an annual Aspiring Authors writing contest between October 1st and December 31st.  Each year, two winners will be selected in the Young Adult and Adult Genre Fiction categories.  Submissions must follow the following guidelines:

• Writer’s Market 2010 or 2011 standard guidelines
• First three chapters with an outline must be postmarked no later than December 31,2010.  No electronic submissions will be accepted.  Submissions must include an e-mail, phone number and physical address for replies.  All submissions will be followed by a letter or e-mail confirmation, either accepting your submission or rejecting it based on the criteria provided in the contest guidelines.
• Submissions will be accepted ONLY for Adult Genre Fiction or Young Adult Fiction. 

Adult Genre Fiction Categories to be considered will include: Science Fiction, Fantasy, Mystery, Alternate History and Romance.

Young Adult Categories to be considered will include: Young Adult Science Fiction, Young Adult Fantasy or Young Adult Supernatural.

• Open submissions without a query letter will only be accepted during the contest period.  All submissions should include a letter telling us about both you and the story not to exceed one page.  Writers for this contest must be seeking to have their first novel published, though writers who have been published in other areas are welcome to submit.  Published novelists are welcome to submit queried projects outside the scope of this project.
• Agency representation with an e-publishing and promotional contract will be offered to the two contest winners. 
• Submitted projects for consideration will be required to be a between 280 and 600 pages in length as a finished project.  Young adult projects should be between 280 and 400 pages long.  Adult genre fiction should be between 320-600 pages in length.  We will consider stand-alone stories only, though we would not discount a potential series title if it had the capability to stand alone.  Potential young adult crossover titles must be specified as either a Young Adult submission or as an Adult Genre Novel to be considered.
